“Detective Conan” predecessor “Yaiba” gets new anime

The opening of an official website revealed that the manga series “Yaiba” is to receive a new anime adaptation. You can watch a first teaser below.

First anime started in 1993

All that is known so far is that the anime adaptation is a series that will be broadcast on Japanese television at an as yet undisclosed date. Further details, such as who is involved in the production, are still pending. We will keep you up to date.

Yaiba” was written by “Detective Conan” author Gosho Aoyama and was published in Japan between September 1988 and December 1993. The work, whose main character of the same name has already been mentioned several times in “Detective Conan”, comprises a total of 24 volumes.

The manga already received a 52-part anime adaptation between April 1993 and April 1994, entitled “Legendary Brave Swordsman Yaiba” (Japanese: “Kenyuu Densetsu YAIBA”) and produced by Studio Pastel.

Yaiba is a wild samurai who trains in the jungle with his father Kenjuro. No one can fool him in a sword fight, but he has no idea how to deal with other people. By chance, he ends up in Tokyo, where he meets his rival Takeshi Onimaru.
