Yomi Hirasaka, the creator of “A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics”, recently complained that people don’t understand his work. We summarize the details below.
Author with harsh words
Of all the reboots in the 2024 spring season, “A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics” probably has the fewest viewers. On the one hand, there are hardly any discussions or entries on social networks and, on the other hand, only a few users on websites such as MyAnimeList have included the title in their list – which particularly infuriates the creator of the original work.
Yomi Hirasaka, who has already sufficiently demonstrated his skills in the past with works such as “A Sister’s All You Need” and “Haganai: I Don’t Have Many Friends”, quite clearly criticized the inability of viewers on X (formerly Twitter) in this context:
“I often see comments from people claiming they don’t understand the story of ‘A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics’. It makes me wonder what these people want to do with their lives. The story is for those who can’t answer that question. Everyone else can just stay as they are, as long as they don’t cause problems for others.”
Of course, this statement did not go uncommented. Many X users reacted with incomprehension, writing, among other things, that the author’s statement was just as incomprehensible as his work. In addition, the comments stated that Hirasaka had already handled criticism very badly in the past and had reacted in a very quick-tempered manner.
The twelve-part anime adaptation of “A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics” has been broadcast on Japanese television since April 5, 2024.Crunchyroll is showing the series in the original Japanese dubbing with English subtitles in the simulcast.
